Viridian Skies by Tim Rangnow

During a visit to a system soon to experience rare celestial phenomena, Kole and Neela take on a job escorting an archaeologist into Ancient ruins on the far side of the planet.

The trip takes an unexpectedly dangerous turn when one of Kole’s old rivals appears, escorting a competing team hoping to be the first to discover the entry into the ruins. Worse, Kole’s rival is willing to do anything to secure a victory over his old foe.
