A rookie astronomer discovers a planet-sized comet on collision course with Mars, a rendezvous that could create chaos in the solar system. When she reports her find to the Minor Planet Center, she first faces stonewalling, then she is silenced by NASA, who explain away the evidence with a subtle explanation. Soon she realizes that she is bucking a massive government cover-up. When she enlists the aid of a friend, she winds up in a FEMA camp and two other astronomers are forced to go on the run.
