The Ranch: For The Betterment of Humanity by Peter Mattson

What if the perfect society was built on a deadly secret?
Harkiem is a nation without crime, where citizens trust the government and troubled boys are sent to Refinement Centres to become better sons. Parents believe they’ll return home. Thirteen-year-old Jack Ovens never does.
When investigative journalist Jones Torren begins looking into Jack’s death, he uncovers whispers of The Ranch—a place the government denies exists. As his investigation exposes a connection to his own brother’s disappearance years earlier, Jones becomes the target of powerful officials determined to protect a secret that could destroy the nation. Some truths are worth dying for. Others are worth killing to protect.
