The Gatekeeper’s Descendants by Johanna Frank

Imagine being dead—and discovering that’s the easy part.

There you are, not a care in the world, racing through fields of purple, your beloved mentor always nearby. Then the authorities from a Kingdom you refuse to enter arrive with an order. Not a request.

You’re going back to Earth. Some kid down there needs you.

It was supposed to be simple. Pipiera had one job: reach out to a boy named Matthew on Earth and make a connection. His fate was supposedly at stake. The problem? She wasn’t sure she cared.

Until she discovers his spirit is on the loose.

Now she has to find him, earn his trust, and somehow convince him that his life is worth returning to. But she isn’t the only one who has found Matthew. A shadowy adversary has already gained the boy’s confidence—and is offering him a different path.

Thought-provoking fiction for readers who enjoy stories of the unseen.
