The Earth was devastated. Disasters and wars have threatening all of humanity. So a vast engineering program was undertaken to launch seven huge colony ships toward suspected Earth-like planets. The voyages would take generations, but it was humanity’s hope for survival. The ships launched, and were all lost…somewhere.

Now, one hundred years later, the only humans left on Earth are in Dome 17. Their home is failing, and they decide to make a desperate attempt to reach one of those missing generational colony ships. Paul and Gretchen select the Colony Ship Vanguard as their target. However, the method of getting there, faster-than-light travel, can only accommodate two people and has never been tested over long distances. Even risky is the teleportation technology they will set up on the Vanguard to rescue the rest of Dome 17’s survivors.
