Duel of Fire

by Jordan Rivet

Dara Ruminor is a competitive duelist about to take the kingdom of Vertigon by storm. In a world where swords are used for sport and athletes live like kings as long as the crowds love them, all she needs is a wealthy patron to help her achieve dueling glory.

Instead, she gets Prince Siv, the heir to the throne.

She’s supposed to train with him, but it isn’t as easy as it seems. Handsome, charming, and utterly infuriating, he refuses to take the sport—or her—seriously.

But Prince Siv might not be learning the sword just for fun. As threats emerge from the shadows, with the careless prince as their target, Dara will have to raise her sword to protect him—but even her skill might not be enough to keep them both alive.

Princesses Don’t Do Summer School

by Maikel Yarimizu

The game-master’s favorite niece wants to try a fantasy role-playing game, but insists on a few things. First and foremost, everyone has to be a princess. Her friends want to be (in no particular order) a witch, Snow White, Sailor Moon, and anywhere but there. What’s an uncle to do? So he gets together his dice, his maps, and his source books, and tries to show the girls his idea of a fun time. Too bad it doesn’t necessarily jive with how they want to play.

On the one side, we have a story about learning how to get along and cooperatively tell a story. On the other, we have a high fantasy adventure like no other, where the players’ dice rolls are changing the direction of the story in ways that the poor game-master never intended it to go.

Harlow’s Demons Complete Series

by Jen Pretty

My name is Harlow, and I am the loser who got suckered into the worst job in history.
I am a gargoyle huntress.
Thanks to a tiny bit of vandalism, I now wrestle wayward bitey devils back to their perches at way-too-early o’clock.

But lately, something has gone wrong. Gargoyles all over the country are flying the coop, if you will.

When a dark and mysterious stranger blows into town trying to convince me that this is my problem, I’d rather tell him and his obviously chiseled abs to &@$% off. But I don’t have a choice. My gargoyles are vanishing too–including the one that contains a real live demon who possessed me years ago.

In order to get to the bottom of this strange disturbance, I have to strap on my boots and grab my trusty net.

It’s gargoyle hunting time.

Arch Allies

by Audrey Sharpe

For pilot Natasha Orlov, a starship buried in a sea of sand is her ticket to freedom and independence. Sure, restoring the ship won’t be easy, especially when the Feds figure out she’s running an illegal salvage operation, but she’s never shied away from hard work.

Or challenges.

Good thing, too. Because she’s on a collision course with her competition.

Sail into the black with rogues and rascals in this first book in the Starhawke Rogue trilogy! Perfect for fans of Firefly.

Body Suit

by Suzanne Hagelin

A riches to rags adventure of a clever woman in a high-tech suit versus a hostile AI

Exiled to the mines of Mars…
Silvariah Frandelle, a clever business woman, falls from wealth and success into exile and poverty, indentured—barely one step above slavery—as an off-world laborer to escape prison. Her last calculated risk as a free woman, paid for with years of service, becomes the key to surviving hostile environments.
Space, gravity, and Mars wastelands were expected. Intrusive AIs, obscure experiments, and shadowy foes were not.

by Ryan W. Aslesen

At the bleeding edge of space…

In a desperate attempt to escape his current life, Mark Rizer drops out of his prestigious university and enlists in the elite Marines of the United Systems Alliance defense forces. It’s a decision that will take him across the galaxy, first to endure a sadistic boot camp designed to transform him into a ruthless killing machine, and then to join the ranks of the hardened Marines of Murder Company.

Deployed to Verdant, a remote jungle moon at the edge of Alliance space, Mark finds himself fighting a ghostly enemy in a conflict where victories are measured in body counts and death is the only ticket home. The daily grind of combat patrols transforms good men into cold-blooded killers and weak ones into bitter memories. At the bleeding edge of space, Mark learns the true cost of war as he fights for his life, his platoon mates, and his humanity.
