Voyages of the Kaliban’s Cradle: The Oncoming Storm by Matt Mememaro

King Davis of the Imperia is meeting with advisors, worrying about the state of the kingdom when a messenger interrupts. They’ve been attacked by pirates in one of their port cities. He adopts his Tornway persona to go on a mission. Tornway is set upon by the pirates and taken hostage by Captain Reave Reynolds of the Kaliban’s Cradle. There is bickering amongst Tornway’s last crew before they defect. In Port Vera, King Goliath worries about the state of his kingdom. He issues the island with a warning before going and inspecting new ships being constructed. Goliath is shortly killed there after. The Flagship captains hold council to work out what their next move will be. There is a discussion and Captain Waxon speaks up about chasing down a stone that has the power to revive Goliath. With his mission, Reave says his goodbyes, but not before betrayals and other deeds interrupt his quest.
