The Last Hand
by Philip Tsenter
My memory was erased. But there are things I’m not willing to forget.
A key, bus ticket, cigarettes and an old picture photo of a boy and girl saying goodbye at a train station. This is all I had in my pocket when I was arrested.
They claim I am a swindler and have stolen money from the casino, but that’s not true. I am just a wizard. A mediocre wizard who came here to get some practice.
Because as long as I take care of the little magic I possess, I still have hope.
The only thing that matters to me is finding her. My childhood girlfriend from the old photograph. Besides her, nobody else has ever loved me.
Nothing really affected me. Neither the beatings nor the threats. Nothing at all.
Until they made one mistake too many.
And that which is about to happen now, they will never forget…
