Sean knew there was something “different” about the new girl in school — Alexis Townsend — but before he figures it out, he gets distracted by her drop-dead gorgeous sister, Nicole. Once he finally gets the courage to ask Nicole out on a date, his world is turned upside down when he’s visited by a distant relative. Distant, as in, great-great-great-great-great-grandson. 1995 seems like a primitive society to the time-traveler, but he tries hard to fit in with some help from his ancestor.

…Before You Leap is a humorous YA level read that strikes some notes of nostalgia with the slightly older crowd who have fond memories of the final decade of the 20th Century.

LX’s story continues as the time-traveler needs to travel back another generation to gather data. Sean tags along and gets a chance to hang out with his teenage dad and his ‘groovy’ friends in 1969. The sleepy little town of Mercer, Iowa is a far cry from Haight-Ashbury and the local ‘oldsters’ aren’t all that enthused by the younger generation’s long hair and wild music. Sean experiences some culture clash but also develops a crush on one of his father’s friend’s sister causing him to make a life or death decision that can have huge repercussions on his world when he returns to 1995.

Will LX regret bringing his sometimes illogical ancestor into his father’s wannabe flower children world, or will peace, love, and understanding prevail in the end?
