by Logan Byrne

In dystopian Manhattan, society is divided into six zones, with each one representing a citizen’s benefit to society: Stalwart (strength), Astute (intelligence), Collusive (greed), Radiant (beauty), Quixotic (no life direction), and the Altruistic (willingness to help others). On a citizen’s sixteenth birthday, a computer suggests a new zone for them based on their inherent benefit to society. When Kalenna Slater is sorted out of her home zone Quixotic and into Altruistic, she thinks things can’t get worse.

During sorting she receives a device known as ‘The Band’. It’s a large watch-like device that never comes off, and it measures a citizen’s karma on a scale from one to one hundred. If a citizen does bad, including breaking laws, they lose points. When your number reaches zero, the band acts as judge, jury, and executioner, and you are injected with toxins that kill you.

The Savage Earth

by PT Hylton & Jonathan Benecke

It’s been over a century since the humans lost the war for Earth. Cities have been reclaimed by nature, and the planet is quiet and empty by day. At night, feral vampires—more beast than man—roam the lands, hungry for blood.

The few thousand surviving humans live on a massive airship that circles the Earth, moving with the rotation of the planet so it’s always in sunlight.

Alexandria Goddard is a member of the elite Ground Mission Team, a group tasked with making dangerous runs to the planet’s surface for the supplies needed to keep the ship airborne. But even as the team fights for their people’s survival, dangerous forces are working against them. A growing movement aboard the airship believes it’s time for humans to resettle the Earth, and they are willing to go to extreme measures to make their vision a reality.

Ella, The Slayer

by A. W. Exley

The flu pandemic of 1918 took millions of souls within a few short weeks.
Except it wasn’t flu and death gave them back.

Seventeen-year-old Ella copes the best she can; caring for her war-injured father, scrubbing the floors, and slaying the undead that attack the locals. Vermin they’re called, like rats they spread pestilence with their bite. Ella’s world collides with another when she nearly decapitates a handsome stranger, who is very much alive.

Seth deMage has returned to his ancestral home with a mission from the War Office — to control the plague of vermin in rural Somerset. He needs help; he just didn’t expect to find it in a katana-wielding scullery maid.

Working alongside Seth blurs the line between their positions, and Ella glimpses a future she never dreamed was possible. But in overstepping society’s boundaries, Ella could lose everything – home, head and heart.

Murder Sidhe Wrote

by Tom Shutt

Dress for the job you want, they say, but Siobhan never wanted to be a fairy.

A costume party, a night out for once with friends. That’s all it was supposed to be, I swear.

Yeah, well, nobody told that to the witch who fudged everything up. Now I have fairy magic, my best friend is a Greek goddess, and we only have a few days to find everyone else who got changed at the party and reverse the spell that’s already caused one murder.

If I can keep the Coppers off my tail—I don’t have one of those yet, thank God—long enough to find my friends and stop a murderous new super, this might just yet not be the worst Halloween to date.
